Debris and Drainage Conditions That Affect Gutters
Gutters fill at different rates depending on immediate surroundings rather than regional averages. A home situated near heavy tree cover may experience regular leaf fall, dropping needles, or twigs that settle directly into the channels. Wind can push organic matter onto low-slope roof valleys, which then washes down into gutters during rainfall. Dirt, decaying organic matter, and moss dislodged from roofing materials can also accumulate, gradually restricting the path water needs to reach downspout openings.
