When Morris gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including bur oak, silver maple, green ash, hackberry, and cottonwood, drop materials into local gutter channels. Spring deposits seed pods and cottonwood fluff, while broadleaf foliage drops during fall, usually peaking in early October. Conifers like eastern red cedar and ponderosa pine drop needle clusters that trap windblown dirt. Freezing nights create ice dams in gutters when trapped snow melt cannot drain down downspouts, leading to thick icicles and heavy strain on roof edges. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep channels clear before winter freezes block downspout outlets completely.
