When Moon gutters fill up
Several trees common in the region, including red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, drop heavy debris. Oak catkins fall in spring, while acorns, spiky sweetgum balls, and fallen leaves fill gutters in the fall. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, clogging lines right before winter. In Moon, freezing nights happen, snow is likely, and ice dams in gutters are a real winter problem when trapped water freezes near the roofline. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear out organic debris, maintain free downspout flow, and protect your home before freezing weather hits Pennsylvania each winter.
