When Monmouth gutters fill up
Monmouth experiences cold winter months with freezing nights, icy weather, and regular snowfall. Ice dams often form inside clogged gutters when standing water freezes during midwinter cold snaps. Across this region, native broadleaf trees like sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, and American elm drop leaves and seed wings into rain channels. Conifers such as white pine and spruce drop pine needles that pack tightly inside each downspout. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roof gutters right before the first big winter freezes arrive. We recommend residential gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels empty and water flowing freely.
