When Minnetrista gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including bur oak, silver maple, cottonwood, green ash, hackberry, eastern red cedar, and ponderosa pine, drop various debris throughout the year. Cottonwood fluff airborne in spring quickly clogs narrow downspout openings, while ash seeds and airborne dust fill gutter troughs during summer. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling the system right before freezing temperatures arrive. In Minnetrista, freezing nights and heavy snow lead to ice dams in gutters if trapped water cannot drain properly. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep water moving freely before winter ice forms.
