Understanding Clog Conditions: Outlets vs. Gutter Runs
Drainage trouble often stems from one of two common conditions, each showing distinct signs during rainfall:
- Outlet blockages: Leaves, twigs, or silt collect directly over the drop outlet where the gutter meets the downspout, stopping drainage even when the rest of the trough holds little debris.
- Run clogs: Accumulated material settles along the horizontal gutter run, trapping standing water and causing localized overflow along the middle of a trough.
