When Meridian gutters fill up
Trees common in the region include broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce. In spring, maples drop seed wings into gutter troughs, while summer storms knock down small twigs and acorns. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling channels with heavy foliage. Freezing nights happen regularly in Meridian, and ice dams in gutters are a real winter problem when winter snow collects on rooftops. Trapped water freezes solid, expanding inside downspouts and splitting gutter seams. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep seasonal debris moving and prevent icy blockages during cold weather.
