When Matthews gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region affect local gutter systems throughout every season. Conifers like loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine drop needles all year, while sweetgum trees shed hard sweetgum balls. In spring, broadleaf live oak, water oak, red maple, and southern magnolia release thick yellow pollen and dropped leaves, while live oaks lose leaves heavily. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Freezing nights happen in North Carolina winters, but ice dams in gutters are not an issue and snow is rare. We recommend scheduling a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear pine needles, acorns, and decaying leaves.
