When Mastic gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region include broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine. Spring brings heavy oak catkins that cling to rooflines, while fall releases spiky sweetgum balls, acorns, and broad leaves that easily jam water outlets. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October across New York, quickly filling channels before winter arrives. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Still, trapped winter slush adds immense weight to uncleaned systems. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to ensure proper water flow during every season.
