When Markham gutters fill up
Several trees are common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce. In spring, maples drop heavy seed wings into the gutter channels. Late summer brings acorns, followed by pine needles and broad leaves. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roof gutters right before the cold sets in. Winter brings freezing nights and snow, making ice dams in gutters a real problem when trapped water freezes solid. To keep channels clear and prevent structural strain, we recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, before winter frost arrives in Markham.
