When Limerick gutters fill up
Local trees common in the region drop heavy debris straight into roof channels throughout the year. Spring brings oak catkins that clump inside aluminum channels, while broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum trees drop fallen leaves, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls in fall. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling downspout openings right before winter. Freezing nights happen here and snow is likely, turning wet channel debris into heavy, solid ice that strains fascia mounting brackets. We recommend scheduling a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, to protect residential rooflines from blockages.
