When Leacock gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris into channels throughout the year. Spring releases oak catkins, while fall drops heavy leaves, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls from broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum trees. Eastern white pine needles also settle into gutter corners. Winter brings freezing nights and snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Snow melting off the roof will back up if organic matter blocks the trough. We recommend professional gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall. A scheduled spring gutter cleaning removes catkins, while fall maintenance cleans out dense fall leaves before winter snow arrives.
