When Latham gutters fill up
In Latham, trees common in the region drop a steady stream of debris into roof channels throughout the year. Red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum shed oak catkins in spring, followed by acorns and spiky sweetgum balls later in the year. Eastern white pine needles also settle into channels. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October. Freezing nights, heavy snow, and winter ice dams create severe risks when trapped water freezes inside a clogged gutter. To keep water moving, we recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall. Regular fall gutter cleaning prevents winter ice build-up along the roof edge.
