When Lake Mary gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop leaves and debris into Lake Mary drainage systems throughout the year. Broadleaf live oak, water oak, sweetgum, red maple, and southern magnolia drop thick foliage, while loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine shed thin needles continuously. Spring brings heavy yellow pollen and live oak leaf drop, followed by sweetgum balls and acorns later in the year. Freezing nights are rare, so ice dams never form, but constant moisture creates rapid buildup. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear out fallen pine needles and heavy oak leaves before big storms hit Florida.
