When Kathleen gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as live oak, water oak, sweetgum, red maple, southern magnolia, loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine, drop materials into gutters throughout the year. Spring brings yellow pollen and live oak leaf drop, while pine needles fall continually. Sweetgum balls and acorns settle in the channels later in the year. Freezing nights are rare in Kathleen, so ice dams in gutters do not occur, but massive rain totals mean clear pathways are critical. We recommend a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to prevent seasonal buildup from stopping water flow when intense thunderstorms pass through.
