When Jefferson gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris across different seasons in Jefferson. Broadleaf live oak trees drop heavy foliage in early spring rather than fall, while pecan catkins and crape myrtle blossoms fall early in the year. Eastern red cedar pollen settles during winter, and loblolly pine needles fall regularly. Cedar elm and post oak leaves add more buildup before heavy storms arrive. Freezing nights are rare here, so ice dams in gutters are not an issue. However, decaying matter traps water during summer downpours. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels completely clear through all seasonal shifts in Louisiana.
