When James City gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop distinct debris across the seasons. Loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine shed pine needles into local gutter channels all year long. Broadleaf live oak trees drop heavy leaf loads, while sweetgum trees release sweetgum balls and water oak trees drop acorns. In spring, yellow pollen coats roof surfaces and turns into sticky gunk inside wet channels. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Freezing nights happen here, but snow is rare and ice dams in gutters are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep systems clear and functional through North Carolina weather changes.
