When Independence gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region include broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce. In Independence, fallen leaves, maple seed wings, acorns, and needle clusters drop onto every nearby roof. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling gutter channels right before winter sets in. Freezing nights and snow bring ice dams in gutters, which lock heavy winter ice against roof edges. Blocked lines prevent thawing snow from draining, forcing backing water under your shingles. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep drainage paths clear throughout the year.
