Understanding Drainage Issues and Outlet Blockages
Drainage trouble often looks similar from the ground, but different causes require different attention. For example, debris collecting directly over a downspout opening can cause water to back up and spill over the corners even when the rest of the trough is mostly empty. In contrast, heavy accumulation spread across the entire channel can slow drainage and lead to mid-run spills. Identifying whether the issue is concentrated at the drop outlet or across the gutter run helps determine how thoroughly the channel and outlets need to be cleared.
