When Hope gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, such as broadleaf live oak, post oak, pecan, cedar elm, crape myrtle, loblolly pine, and eastern red cedar, drop heavy debris into open gutters. Live oak leaves fall in spring rather than fall, while oak catkins and pecan shells accumulate during early summer. Cedar elm and post oak drop leaves that usually peak in early November, and eastern red cedar sends pollen and tiny needles into gutter channels through winter. While freezing nights happen in Hope, snow is rare and ice dams in gutters are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, every spring and fall, to protect every residential home.
