When Hermon gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, bring continuous foliage and pine needles onto local roofs. Maple seed wings fall during spring, followed by acorns and a heavy carpet of fallen leaves that usually peaks in early October. Freezing nights happen regularly here, creating ice dams in gutters that block water flow when snow melts. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear out heavy organic buildup before ice forms. Removing damp pine needles and broad leaves twice a year keeps your downspout channels clear through freeze cycles.
