When Hanover gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum, drop heavy organic waste into local roof gutters. In spring, oak catkins fill gutter runs, while spiky sweetgum balls, acorns, and needle drop from eastern white pines collect later in the year. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October across Hanover. Freezing nights happen regularly in winter, and while ice dams in gutters are not an issue here, snow is likely and adds heavy weight to trapped debris. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear clogged pathways before freezing weather arrives.
