When Hamtramck gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, fill gutters with leaves, seeds, acorns, and needles. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, clogging every open gutter. Michigan winters bring freezing nights, snow, and ice dams in gutters, which trap moisture along the roofline. Trapped water freezes, expands, and pulls heavy gutters away from fascia boards. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall. A spring visit clears out fallen winter twigs and tree seeds, while fall maintenance removes dense leaves before freezing temperatures arrive.
