When Hampton gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, drop heavy materials into roof channels. Maple seed wings fall during spring, followed by acorns and heavy leaf drop that usually peaks in early October. Conifer needles fall throughout the year. Freezing nights, heavy snow, and ice dams in gutters make severe winter blockages a serious concern across New Hampshire. Trapped water freezes inside clogged channels, pulling fascia boards away from the home edge. We recommend scheduling gutter cleaning at least twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, to prevent winter ice problems.
