When Gypsum gutters fill up
Local trees drop heavy leaves, sharp needles, and small seeds into gutters throughout the year. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roofline channels right before freezing temperatures settle over the high valley. When winter arrives in Colorado, freezing nights convert lingering water and trapped debris into heavy ice dams in gutters, which can push under roof shingles and crack plastic or metal sections. To stop ice accumulation and summer overflow, we recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall. A thorough spring gutter cleaning removes winter grit, while fall maintenance ensures downspout channels stay totally clear before seasonal snow falls.
