When Gloucester gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, deposit heavy debris. Spring brings maple seed wings, while fall drops acorns, pine needles, and a dense carpet of leaves. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October across Gloucester. Winter brings freezing nights and likely snow, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Trapped water in a clogged channel can still freeze and pull metal away from the fascia. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels clear before freezing temperatures arrive.
