When Girard gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop heavy debris into open gutters. Maple seed wings fall during spring, while acorns, needles, and leaves pile high when leaf drop usually peaks in mid October. Cold winters bring freezing nights, snow, and ice dams that form when clogged gutters trap standing water near the roof edge. Trapped slush expands as it freezes, pulling fasteners away from the fascia. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels open through every Ohio season and prevent heavy ice buildup during freezing months.
