When Genoa gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop heavy materials onto area homes. In spring, maple seed wings fill open channels, while fall brings heavy leaves and acorns that peak around early October. Conifer needles fall continually, creating tight blockages. During Michigan winters, freezing nights bring snow and ice, causing ice dams if water cannot drain. Trapped slush expands inside channels and pulls brackets loose. We recommend scheduling a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, to ensure open drainage before harsh seasonal weather arrives.
