When Franklin gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris throughout the year onto Franklin homes. Conifers like loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine drop pine needles year-round, while broadleaf live oak, water oak, sweetgum, red maple, and southern magnolia shed heavily. Spring brings yellow pollen and live oak leaf drop, while sweetgum balls and acorns land in the gutters later in the year. Broadleaf leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Freezing nights happen in Virginia winters, though ice dams are not an issue and snow is rare. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear pine needles and fall leaves before heavy winter rains arrive.
