Common Drainage and Clog Conditions on Local Properties
Open gutters collect leaves, twigs, grit, and organic matter over time, eventually choking the flow of rainwater. A blockage often forms at the transition from the horizontal gutter trough to the downspout drop outlet. When the top opening of a downspout becomes matted with wet debris, water backs up along the eaves. In other situations, pine needles or small seeds travel further down the vertical pipe, lodging at bends or near the ground discharge point.
