When Fair Lawn gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, such as red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine, drop heavy material into gutter channels. Oak catkins fill gutters each spring, while spiky sweetgum balls, acorns, and broad leaves clog outlets during fall. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October across New Jersey. Freezing nights and likely snow during winter turn lingering organic mud into solid ice, stressing fascia mountings. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to maintain water flow. Regular seasonal work keeps downspout lines open before fall leaf falls peak and before winter freezing temperatures arrive.
