When Ettrick gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, such as sweetgum, red maple, water oak, broadleaf live oak, and loblolly pine, send heavy waste into residential gutters. Yellow pollen coats roofs in spring, followed by sweetgum balls, acorns, and broadleaf live oak shedding. Pine needles drop throughout the year, forming dense mats inside each downspout. Broadleaf leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Winter brings freezing nights and snow is likely, although ice dams are not a typical local concern. We recommend scheduling a comprehensive gutter cleaning at least twice a year, during spring and fall, to clear channels before major seasonal drops choke your system.
