When Edna gutters fill up
Trees common in the region include broadleaf live oak, pecan, cedar elm, crape myrtle, post oak, loblolly pine, and ashe juniper. Live oak leaves drop during early spring rather than fall, while oak catkins and juniper pollen coat roof surfaces in winter and spring. Pecan shells and cedar elm leaves drop later in the year, filling gutter channels before winter rains. Freezing nights are rare here, so ice dams do not form in gutters, and snow is rare in Texas. However, heavy rains occur year-round. We recommend scheduling gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to manage this continuous drop of foliage and keep downspouts clear.
