When Edgewood gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sweetgum, red maple, water oak, and loblolly pine, bring steady gutter challenges throughout the year. Yellow pollen coats roofs in spring, pine needles drop constantly, and sweetgum balls accumulate in channels alongside fall leaves. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October across Edgewood, Maryland, right before winter weather sets in. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely, which can freeze sitting water inside a clogged gutter. However, ice dams in gutters are not an issue here if water drains properly. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear sticky pine needles and dense leaves before heavy weather arrives.
