When East Lincoln gutters fill up
Trees common across this region drop constant debris into local roof gutters. Broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, and American elm drop leaves and heavy seeds, while white pine and spruce shed needles. Maple seed wings fall during spring, followed by heavy leaf drop that usually peaks in mid October. In Illinois winters, freezing nights cause standing water to form ice dams inside clogged channels, pulling gutters away from the roofline. We recommend cleaning residential gutters at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep water moving freely before winter freezes arrive and summer rains hit East Lincoln.
