When East Chicago gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, scatter heavy debris into local roof troughs. Spring drops maple seed wings, while fall brings heavy leaves and pine needles. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October across East Chicago. Freezing nights cause snow and ice to build up, leading to ice dams in gutters during winter. Water trapped behind ice can split seams or rot fascia wood. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep systems clear for changing Indiana weather patterns.
