When Dearborn gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop debris over Dearborn roof surfaces. Leaves fall heavily, maple seed wings drop in spring, acorns drop in fall, and pine needles accumulate. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, while freezing nights in winter produce real ice dams when trapped water freezes inside clogged gutters. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels clear before freezing weather sets in. Clearing debris before winter prevents ice from standing along the roof line and backing up into homes.
