When Cumberland gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, drop steady material into local gutters. Spring sends maple seed wings onto the roof, while fall produces acorns along with a heavy carpet of fallen leaves that usually peaks in early October. Pine needles fall through summer and fall, packing tightly into any open downspout. Freezing nights happen regularly here, creating ice dams in gutters when trapped water freezes. Snow is likely throughout the long winter months. We recommend a gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect every home.
