When Crystal gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as silver maple, green ash, hackberry, bur oak, and cottonwood, drop heavy debris into roof channels throughout the year. Spring brings airborne cottonwood fluff and ash seeds, while fall brings heavy leaves that peak around early October. Needles from conifers like eastern red cedar also accumulate. In winter, freezing nights bring heavy snow, creating ice dams in gutters when trapped water freezes near the roofline. We recommend scheduling a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall. Keeping channels open prevents trapped ice from bending fascia board fixtures during cold Minnesota winters.
