When Country Knolls gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop heavy foliage across Saratoga County every season. Broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum shed fallen leaves, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls into roof gutters. In spring, oak catkins drop directly into open channels, clogging downspout openings. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, sending dense material straight off the roofline. Cold winters in New York bring snow, freezing nights, and ice dams in gutters filled with wet foliage. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall. A scheduled gutter cleaning before winter allows snowmelt to drain properly without forming dangerous ice along the eaves.
