When Copley gutters fill up
Local trees common in the region, such as sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, and American elm, drop heavy foliage every fall. Conifers like white pine and spruce shed needles year-round, while maple seed wings and acorns fill channels in late spring. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, clogging lines right before freezing nights begin. Winter snow and trapped ice dams cause severe gutter stress if buildup stays inside the channel. The expanding ice forces seams apart and bends metal brackets out of shape. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to clear organic debris before icy weather creates structural problems.
