When Cochituate gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock, drop heavy materials onto Cochituate rooflines. Spring brings maple seed wings, while fall drops a dense carpet of leaves and acorns. In early October, leaf drop usually peaks across Massachusetts, filling channels right before cold weather arrives. Winter brings freezing nights, snow, and ice dams in gutters when trapped water freezes tight. We recommend scheduled gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall. Regular cleaning prevents ice buildup and ensures proper flow during heavy seasonal rainfall.
