When Clemson gutters fill up
Clemson weather combines wet seasonal storms with steady tree drops throughout the calendar year. Regional broadleaf trees like sweetgum, red maple, water oak, and southern magnolia drop heavy leaves and seed pods, while live oak leaf drop adds fine debris. Conifers common to the area, including loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine, shed needles constantly that pack tight inside any open gutter. Spring brings thick yellow pollen that forms sticky sludge, while sweetgum balls and acorns create stubborn clogs. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October. Freezing nights happen here, though ice dams are not an issue and snow is rare. We recommend routine gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall.
