Run Overflow Versus Downspout Outlet Blockages
Water issues along an exterior wall often stem from one of two distinct conditions. An outlet blockage occurs when leaves, twigs, or small debris pack tightly directly over the downspout opening, causing water to pool and spill over adjacent sections even if the rest of the channel is relatively clear. In contrast, overflow along an entire gutter run usually points to heavy organic sediment buildup, standing water from improper slope, or accumulated weight that impedes water flow toward the outlet.
