When Charlestown gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region include broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, northern red oak, eastern white pine, and eastern hemlock. In spring, maple seed wings fill open channels, while fall brings a heavy carpet of fallen leaves and acorns. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roof gutters before snow arrives in winter. While freezing nights happen and snow is likely, local weather patterns mean ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Still, trapped water will freeze inside a full gutter system and strain fascia mounts. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect Charlestown properties.
