When Carteret gutters fill up
Carteret experiences winter conditions where freezing nights happen and snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue. Regional trees like red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, sweetgum, and eastern white pine drop debris into roof systems all year. Oak catkins fill channels during spring, while spiky sweetgum balls, acorns, and broadleaf foliage land in gutters during fall, when leaf drop usually peaks in mid October. Heavy fall litter quickly chokes downspouts before cold winter weather sets in. To maintain water flow, we recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, clearing away packed leaves before severe weather causes costly property issues.
