Understanding Outlet Blockages and Gutter Run Overflow
Water issues along a roofline often come down to two distinct scenarios: an outlet blockage or mid-run spillage. Distinguishing between them helps identify the right approach for your property:
- Outlet clogs occur when leaves or grit trap right at the drop outlet, backing up water into an otherwise clear trough.
- Mid-run overflow happens when settling, debris mats, or inadequate slope cause water to spill over the front edge before reaching the downspout.
- Downspout obstructions prevent water from dropping through vertical assemblies, forcing excess drainage to pool along the fascia.
