When Bushkill gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris throughout the changing seasons. Broadleaf trees like red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum shed oak catkins in spring, followed by heavy leaf drop, acorns, and spiky sweetgum balls. Conifers such as eastern white pine shed needles year-round. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, leaving channels packed right before winter. Freezing nights cause severe winter problems when trapped water turns to heavy ice, leading to ice dams in gutters. Snow accumulating on clogged systems creates dangerous ice dams along roof edges. We recommend scheduled gutter cleaning at least twice a year, during spring and fall, to keep water flowing freely.
