When Boston gutters fill up
New England climate changes bring specific challenges to Boston gutter systems throughout the year. Regional trees like the sugar maple, red maple, American beech, white birch, and northern red oak drop heavy leaves, while eastern white pine and eastern hemlock drop needles and cones. Maple seed wings fall each spring, acorns drop later, and leaf drop usually peaks in early October. Freezing nights happen and winter snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Trapped water can still freeze, expanding to damage gutter runs and fascia. We recommend professional gutter cleaning at least twice a year, in spring and fall, to keep every channel flowing smoothly.
