When Boone gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris across Boone residential roofs throughout every season. Conifers like loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine drop pine needles all year long. Broadleaf trees such as sweetgum, red maple, water oak, broadleaf live oak, and southern magnolia add heavy debris. Yellow pollen arrives in spring, while live oak leaf drop, sweetgum balls, and acorns fill open gutter channels. Leaf drop usually peaks in late October before cold weather brings freezing nights and likely snow. Although ice dams in gutters are not an issue here, trapped water can freeze inside filled gutters. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall.
